Breckenridge is a world-class ski town and fun for the whole family. Beginners can learn to ski at ski school on Peak 8 or Peak 9, and experts can choose from the 55% of all 2,358 acres of ski terrain that is black diamond or harder. Our vacation rental home is located slope-side on Peak 8 and is perfectly located to take advantage of all the fun the mountain has to offer. Breckenridge has a bustling main street that provides ample restaurants and bars to enjoy after a day on the slopes, and a charming array of shops to visit on an off-mountain day. Holiday decor adds to the magic of this mountain town, and it is truly a picture-perfect location for your ski vacation.
Visit Breckenridge.com to purchase your lift tickets. For stays of one week or less, we recommend the 7 day or the 4 day pass. The earlier you purchase your lift tickets, the less expensive they will be.
If you need to rent skis, you have your choice of many local rental shops. The closest one to our vacation home, Charter Sports, is a half mile away and we have found them to have excellent service and reasonable prices. Save time and money by reserving gear in advance online. Select the Bluesky Breckenridge Location. We also really like Blue River Sports. They are a mile away near the base of Peak 9. A little bit bigger of a shop than Charter Sports, but also great prices and service.
It can be hard to resist spending every day on the slopes when you are staying in a ski-in/ski-out vacation home. But if you happen to be taking an off-mountain day and are looking for something to do, try ice skating. The Stephen C. West Ice Arena offers public skating and skate rentals. Check their website for public skate hours and rental rates. It is less than a ten minute drive from our house.
The Breckenridge Recreation Center is open to the public and has a lap pool, kiddie pool with super cool waterslide, steam room, sauna, hot tubs, and rock climbing wall, amongst other amenities. Check their website for operating hours and rates. It is less than a ten minute drive from our house.
And for an exhilarating and totally free bit of snowy fun, try sledding in Carter Park. You’ll find five sleds in the garage available for your use.
We are still exploring all that Breckenridge has to offer in the winter season, both on and off the mountain. There are many dog sledding and snowshoeing and cross country adventures I have yet to take, and cannot personally recommend any specific companies at the moment. However, here are some articles from other sources to help point you in the right direction for those activities.
